If there is one thing we noticed immediately when we moved to Spain, it was the lack of screens on the windows and doors. It seems like a simple resolution to the problem of combating insects entering the home, but for some reason they just aren’t common. Yes, there are mosquitoes in Spain. That leaves us with searching for the best mosquito trap or mosquito repellent, as well as coming up with means to screen our windows and doors.
How to prevent mosquito bites
For some reason, mosquitoes love me and they don’t even touch my husband. I don’t know if there is some magic recipe in my blood they prefer, but they drive me nuts! Especially when I have to battle the buzzing of a mosquito at night, when I am trying to sleep! The best thing to do is stay away from them, but that is often easier said than done.
- Wear light-colored clothing
- Use insect repellent or bracelet
- Avoid being out at dawn and dusk, as this is their busy time
- If the wind is blowing, this is your friend for mosquito prevention
- Keep the air circulating in your home with fans and this will help minimize their presence
- Use a mosquito net over your bed
- Install screens in windows and doors to prevent them from entering your home
- Remove any standing water

Best Mosquito Trap
According to our research people have a varied opinion on the best mosquito trap. It seems the mosquito trap lamps work well and help collect the remains of the mosquito, so it is easy to keep the area clean. They work by emitting an LED light to attract the mosquitoes into the trap, then it kills them and they remain inside.
Each has its own style and look, but they are all effectively the same type of machine. Some are bigger than others and thus cover a larger room area.
Check them out and see which mosquito trap is right for you. These are the best rated and most cost-effective as well. There are also some very expensive options, but I am not sure more expensive always means better.More options for a mosquito trap

The mosquito fogger may be a bit extreme, as you need to be sure to remove all pets and people while in use. It is good to prevent mosquitoes, as well as other insects (fleas, moths, cockroaches and more) for a period of time. This is likely the best mosquito killer, to ensure you get them all and prevent them for a while as well.
Candles are great if you are sitting outside or they are close to you, so this is also an effective option. That said, it isn’t a good idea to leave them burning while you are sleeping, so do be cautious.
