Escape to a slightly bigger city and experience a day trip from Almuñécar with many things to do in Motril, Spain. Motril is the second-largest city in the Granada Province, with a population exceeding 60,000. Yes, this isn’t a big city by most standards, but it is the biggest on the Costa Tropical. If you would like to really explore Costa Tropical, beyond the Paseo, then renting a bike is the option for you. There are wonderful year round bike shops in town and are very reputable and friendly.
When getting settled into your new place, you will likely be on the lookout for the local furniture stores. There are a few small stores with limited selections right in town or you have the option of traveling to some of the larger stores.
With over 19 km of coastline, the La Herradura & Almuñécar beaches (Almuñecar playas) are for everyone. Of course, some of the most popular are those which are easily accessible and right in the urban area of town. There are also several which are secluded or offer small coves or cliffs, for a little variety. Many of the beaches are covered with stones or pebbles, there are even some with dark sand.
