You can find just about anything for your daily needs when shopping in Almuñécar or shopping in La Herradura. Once in a while you may want to go to a big shopping center, so we share some of those options with you too.
The municipality of Almuñécar is a lovely place to live/visit, but in order to enjoy it, you have to get here. What are the airports closest to Almuñécar, La Herradura & Costa Tropical? If you’re flying from another country, or from within Spain, there are a number of airports to use. There are two main choices for airports (Malaga and Granada). The main bus station in town is just next to the McDonald’s. You may purchase your tickets via the attendant in the station, the kiosk in the station or you can buy tickets online here! This is how you will connect yourself with the rest of Spain via the bus.

There are a variety of transportation options available in Almuñécar. Some are only available during the high season of the Summer months (July/Aug) , some run in the Summer and shoulder season (May – Sept) and others are all year-long. You will find many taxis available in front of the central bus station or near Olivares, all along Avenida Juan Carlos.
The Tropico Express Train, usually runs during tourist season. In the off season, it may be hired by groups or special events.
Almuñécar Horse and Carriage
During the high season, you may enjoy a romantic ride along the beaches of Almuñécar. As of 2017, this hasn’t been around much.
There are 2 main bike paths along the paseo in town and there are several bike rental locations. Depending on where you rent your bike, you will have choices of a paseo or city bike, a mountain bike or a road bike. During the summer months there are all sorts of water toys, jet skis, boats, kayaks and more rented from the main beaches. You may also rent boats or hire a boat tour from the Marina del Este.
