Supermercado Almuñécar Supermarkets & Grocery Stores

Not everything named supermercado (supermarket) is a big market.  There are many small shops with the name supermarket in their names.  When we think of a supermarket, we envision several shopping aisles along with several cashiers for checkout.  Many small supermercados are around town, along Velilla Beach, and in La Herradura, but the bigger stores are mainly in Almuñécar.  We have them listed below, with 5 in Almuñécar and 1 smaller one in La Herradura.

Mercadona Almunecar Supermarket (2 locations)

Mercadona is by far the largest Almuñécar supermarket.  The location near San Cristobal is very similar to “American-style” Grocery shopping.  Plenty of shopping space and parking as well.  This store opened in May of 2012, so it provides a nice new shopping environment.  In certain areas of town you can order online or go to the store and shop, then use Mercadona delivery services.  Check the Mercadona website to see if your area is covered.

Right next to Dia% you will find LiDL.  This is also one of the bigger Supermarkets / Grocery Stores in Almuñécar.   It should meet all of your basic needs and it is in a good location in town.  You will find some imported items and some German Brands.

Alimentación Paco La Herradura – open Sunday

A small shop in La Herradura, just behind the post office.  Alimentación Paco is located at Calle Gonzalo Barbero, 20.

Eroski Supermarket – Vélez-Málaga

This is a very large supermarket, similar to a Tesco or Wal-mart and located about 30 minutes to the west of Almuñécar, on the A7.  It is one of the cornerstone stores in the El Ingenio shopping mall.  It should meet all of your needs and then some, as they do carry more product choices for international food.  They also sell appliances, electronics, sporting goods, housing goods, school supplies, clothing, and more.
