When visiting Almuñécar, it is almost impossible not to notice the Blas Infante Arches (Puerta de Almuñécar). As you pass by on the N340, you will see the Blas Infante Arches stand out amidst all of the tall trees. This is a great meeting point in town, as it is easy to find.
Friday Market Almunecar Mercadillo Almuñécar
The market’s real name is “Almuñécar Mercadillo Los Viernes”, The Friday Market or to some Almunecar Friday markt. The entrance right in the heart of the town at the Arc de Triomphe Puerta de Almuñécar (Blas Infantes Arches), this is also the main fairgrounds in the month of August. The Almuñécar Plazas are an important part of daily life. We will share with you some of the most popular Spanish Plazas, along with photos, and a map with the location. These plazas not only offer a place to find shops and restaurants, they are also social gathering spots. These are the outdoor living rooms for the town to enjoy and meet up with friends. When getting settled into your new place, you will likely be on the lookout for the local furniture stores. There are a few small stores with limited selections right in town or you have the option of traveling to some of the larger stores.

In the meantime, you may find individual shops close by. There are several booths set up at Plaza Kuwait, by the Aquarium. This is just behind the old municipal market to purchase some of the items which were sold at the municipal market. A bakery is also just behind the former municipal market. There are now also several freestanding fresh fish shops nearby as well.

Mercado Municipal – Almuñécar Municipal Market
There are several main Almuñécar Supermarkets or Grocery Stores in the area, including La Herradura, Motril and Vélez-Málaga . There are also several specialty markets or small stores where you will be able to find imported or international products. A few of these are open for limited hours on Sundays.
