Municipal Market CLOSED as of March 2020 A new market will be built in its place 2024.
As you may have noticed, the municipal market has been taken down and a new municipal market will go in its place. Not to fear, you can still purchase all of the goods that were in the market, we just need to get back to the old style of visiting each individual shop. Friday Market
Where the shops come to you!
An outdoor market full of great things! The market’s real name is “Mercadillo Los Viernes”, The Friday Market or to some Almunecar Friday markt. The entrance right in the heart of the town at the Arc de Triomphe Puerta de Almuñécar (Blas Infantes Arches), this is also the main fairgrounds in the month of August. It lies between the main road (N-340) and the one and only “McDonald’s”.
On Friday there is also a market in Plaza de la Independencia de La Herradura.
Sunday Market, Rastro or Flea Market
You can buy many second-hand items and antiques at the Sunday market, located across from McDonald’s. Sunday 09:00 – 14:00 More for the Sunday market information here.

Summer Market Almuñécar
If you are out walking the paseo near the Peñones del Santo, you will be in for a treat to browse the San Cristobal summer market. It’s located in Plaza Abderrahman, near Loro Sexi park. Read more here.
Almuñécar Artisan Market
As you meander the paths through El Majuelo Park, you will discover many little white cottages; Almuñécar Artisan Market. These artisan shops and string along the path to the bridge and a few are located near the north entrance gates as well. Each display a name for a Spanish province and contain various crafts and trades. These are the perfect place to find that unique gift for someone or just watch a master at work. They are only a few open everyday, but it is worth checking out the park no mater what.
Almuñécar Medieval Market
Usually sometime in December is the Almuñécar Medieval Market (Mercado Medieval) rolls into town and takes over the Paseo del Altillo. Showing off falconry, baked goods, hand crafts, jewelry and more. It is typically 3 days over a weekend and good fun for everyone.

La Herradura Markets
The Municipal Market La Herradura
Monday- Saturday 09:00 – 14:00, located along the beach, just as you enter town. Flowers are available Tuesdays and Saturdays. You will find just about everything you need from fresh produce to meats and cheese. Sometimes there are clothes out on display near the front entrance.
La Herradura Friday Market
Each Friday there is also a market in Plaza de la Independencia de La Herradura.
La Herradura Rastro Sunday Market or Mercadillo
On Sunday there is also a flea market (second-hand goods, crafts & more) in de La Herradura. This is an outdoor market located in the Plaza de la Independencia La Herradura at the center of town, every Sunday 9:00 – 2:00 (summer).
La Herradura Luz de Luna Night Market
Be prepared for a magical experience at the Fiestas Virgen del Carmen Night Market. Luz de Luna La Herradura will present you with hundreds of candles dancing in the night, lining the picturesque stone pedestrian streets in the old town. It is also, time to do some shopping, with artisan booths selling crafts and wares. It is an annual market celebrated as part of the Fiestas Virgen del Carmen events.
