Who is up for a little adventure? If you are seeking a unique and fun short break from the coast, try glamping in Spain with the Nomad Xperience! They offer far more than just glamping in a tent; you have several different types of accommodation to choose from. Not only will you be able to enjoy the peace and quite of the mountains, in just 20 minutes you can be in the city center of Granada! What more could you ask for?
What is Glamping?
Well, we have always known it to be camping with a little more luxury or a blend of the two words “glamorous camping”. Glamping is where stunning nature meets modern luxury. It’s a way to experience nature, without having to sacrifice creature comforts. You get the wilderness, great hosts, quiet nights with so many stars and a comfortable bed.
Straight from the Oxford dictionary
A form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping. ‘glamping is likely to satisfy any city slicker seeking a little refuge in nature—without foregoing any of life’s luxuries’
Basically, you can think of it as an outdoor hotel or a luxurious camping experience.
Where can you go glamping in Granada?
If you were considering going camping in Granada, I’d recommend trying out glamping instead. Just south of the city you will find the town of Padul. Tucked in the hills, just a few kilometers away is your glamping paradise with the Nomad Xperience. This is a small family-run glamping experience which will really impress you with all of their attention to detail and special touches to make you feel at home. They are open spring through fall and you don’t need to worry too much about the summer heat. We visited in the middle of July and it was surprising how cool it was at night, as they are located up in the hills with an altitude of about 1200 meters.
The Nomad Xperience – A Short Break From Almuñécar
It’s time to leave the busy beaches in Almuñécar and head inland for some mountains, nature, lakes and a change of scenery. In less than an hour you can be in the beautiful mountains enjoying gentle walks in the forest or venturing off to go hiking, kayaking or canyoning. You will also be a quick 20-minute drive from Granada city center and the Nevada shopping center. So if you were thinking of spending a couple of days in Granada, you may want to consider staying at the Nomad Xperience and get the best of the city and the peacefulness of the mountains.
This property is tucked away from the hustle and bustle and made to feel very cozy and comfortable. The property has a beautiful swimming pool with plenty of room to lounge and sunbathe. The kids will just love it here with so many places to explore and also a trampoline, ping pong table and more entertainment available.
It also offers many communal areas with a large outdoor living area with padded benches, couch chairs, a bar and even a guitar! All perfect for you to meet the other guests or come and take over the place with a group of friends!
There are 2 very nice private toilet and shower rooms, with your towels and linens included. The full-sized outdoor kitchen has everything you would need.
Our favorite part were all of the little sitting areas tucked away throughout the site. With plenty of beautiful green grass, flowers, a vegetable garden and loads of bespoke artwork and solar twinkle lights. It really feels like you are walking through a storybook both during the day and night.
Glamping in Spain Rooms
The Nomad Xperience was created and is run by a lovely Dutch/Spanish family. They have created the entire experience to ensure all of their guest’s needs are met. Each accommodation choice has been completed with comfort and luxury in mind. There are several options to choose from for this glamping trip and you will not be disappointed with any of them. Did you know they have yurts in Spain? Yep, the Nomad Xperience offers you the option to stay in a yurt, a tipi, a gypsy wagon or a wooden and slate igloo! Each of these offers their own unique charm, and private sitting area.
Glamping in a Yurt
What is a yurt? It is a circular tent of skins, canvas, or fabric on a collapsible framework, traditionally used by nomads in Mongolia, Siberia, and Turkey.
Of course this yurt is in Spain! It is surprisingly spacious inside, with a queen bed, twin bed, chair, dresser, coffee table and seats. It really feels like you are stepping into another time, but with the comforts of nice beds and bedding. You will sleep well and have plenty of room to chill out inside or out.
Glamping in a Tipi
What is a tipi? A tipi is a conical tent made of skins, cloth, or canvas on a frame of poles, used by American Indians of the Plains and Great Lakes regions.
This is no ordinary experience camping in Granada, this is glamping in a tipi! Yes, a tipi is technically a tent, but how many tents have you stayed in with a queen sized bed, a sitting area and twinkle lights? This really makes you feel cozy and provides you with all of the comforts for a great night’s sleep.
Glamping in a Gypsy Wagon
What is a gypsy wagon? A gypsy wagon, also known as a vardo (living wagon, van, and caravan). These were traditional horse-drawn wagons used by British Romani people as their home. They were typically highly decorated, intricately carved, brightly painted, and even gilded.
The Nomad Xperience gypsy wagon has been custom built by the owners, to provide you with the authentic feel and a romantic setting. It has apparently been rented often for honeymoons and special occasions for couples.
Glamping in an Igloo
What is an igloo? An igloo is traditionally made from placing snow blocks in a spiral line to make a domed construction with a small entrance tunnel to keep out the wind. Snow blocks wouldn’t last very long in the hills of Granada Spain, so the owners have an alternative solution. Their igloo is a dome structure made from wood and covered with a slate roof!
This one is special, as you have a private bathroom, shower room and kitchen, with a queen bed and pull out couch! Someone was staying in this when we visited, but they let us in for a peek. We were amazed at the spaciousness of the yurt and tipi, but this was even bigger!
Where To Eat When Glamping
The Nomad Xperience offers a fully equipped communal kitchen for their guests to use. This is included a refrigerator, stove, microwave, BBQ, juicer, and more with two dining areas as well. If you are staying in the igloo, you have your own private bath and kitchen inside, but you are also welcome to use the communal area as well. So this is a big money-saver, as you won’t have to eat out for every meal and you also won’t need to build a campfire and bring all of the camping gear! It’s a win!
Of course if you would like to eat out, the town of Padul is just about 10 minutes drive and of course the city it about 20 minutes, with too many options to mention.
If you would like the owners to provide breakfast for you, it is a service offered for an extra fee.
