With over 19 km of coastline, the La Herradura & Almuñécar beaches (Almuñecar playas) are for everyone. Of course, some of the most popular are those which are easily accessible and right in the urban area of town. There are also several which are secluded or offer small coves or cliffs, for a little variety. Many of the beaches are covered with stones or pebbles, there are even some with dark sand. If you like mosaic art, then join us on this photo walk along the Paseo Puerta del Mar Almuñécar, Spain. What were once ordinary cement benches, are now beautiful works of art and local attractions. Each bench is covered with white mosaic tiles and accented with an amazing design in blue mosaic tile.

Costa Tropical is a nice little secret along the coast of Granada and there are a few options for clothing optional beaches. It is touristy enough to have the amenities you will enjoy, yet private enough to feel like you are living with the locals. While this slice of coastline isn’t vast, you certainly have a great choice of naturalists beaches to choose from.
Large numbers of jellyfish (Medusas in Spanish) have been a problem from time to time in some Mediterranean beaches during recent years. They tend to arrive in large groups once or twice a season and you need to be prepared in case of a jellyfish sting. On popular beaches a red flag will fly if there are many jellyfish present.
