A photo walk through Parque Mediterráneo Almuñécar
Parque Mediterráneo (Mediterranean Park) stretches from Pozuelo beach on the west to Cabria beach on the east. It is a great nature path for a peaceful walk and a great place to let the kids run around. There are small hills involved, so keep that in mind when you set out. You can do a portion of the path or follow it up and down the entire way. Discovering beaches, restaurants and beautiful views. We will have an access map of the park at the bottom of this post.
Parque Mediterráneo (Mediterranean Park)
Starting from the west end of the Park, you will find Pozuelo beach in Velilla/Taramay. (View all Almuñécar beaches.) Pozuelo park is located at the very end of the beach and here, you will find one of the access points into the Parque Mediterráneo.
Just as you approach the entrance to the Mediterranean park, you will see a BMX bike park. This is a great area to let the kids ride their bikes and there are also events held here each year.
Mediterranean Park views of Pozuelo Beach
There will be a cobbled path leading up the hill to one of the few viewpoints (miradors) within the park. There are many trees and a bit of wildlife too. Be on the lookout for butterflies and birds!
Mediterranean Park views of Calabajio Beach
From here you may continue on the path down towards Playa de Calabajio (Calabajio Beach).
Parque Mediterráneo Mirador del Calistro
You will have a great spot to stop and soak in the views at Mirador del Calistro. There is a big terrace, partially covered with benches.
After the mirador, you may continue down towards the beach. Along the way you will also have access to a restaurant, just before you make it to the beach (Restaurante Calabajio). A great place to stop for lunch and enjoy the views from their outdoor terrace.
Parque Mediterráneo Almuñécar at Calabajio Beach
You may go down to Playa Calabajio (Calabajio Beach) or continue along the path back up another hill. This will take you up near the Playacalida Hotel.
Mediterranean Park views of Calabria Beach
From the top of the hill near the Playacalida hotel, you will discover more great views! Here you may find the path which leads down towards Playa Calabria (Calabria Beach).
Calabria Beach is one of our favorite little getaways. There are 3 restaurants and a great vibe all around.
So what are you waiting for? Get out and enjoy this great little hidden gem. At the far end of Velilla Taramay, by Pozuelo beach, you can find one of the access points. There are basketball courts, a BMX track and hiking paths. Enjoy walks surrounding by nature and gorgeous sea views along the way.
