Cueva del Tesoro In Rincon de la Victoria

You are in for a treat when you visit Cueva del Tesoro (Treasure Cave). We’ve lived here for many years and discovered this little gem ourselves. The unique smooth cave walls and hidden pools make it special.

Cueva del Tesoro in Rincón de la Victoria is worth a visit. Beautiful pools of water deep within the cave. Great for everyone and free visits too. Read more on Almunecarinfo.com

Cueva del Tesoro in Rincón de la Victoria

According to the tourism board, Cueva del Tesoro is almost one of a kind.   It is one of the few marine caves in Europe.  It is also unique for a cave, as many of the walls and ceilings are smooth.  They have all been worn by the sea to create a site of natural beauty. So much history, archeology and legend come together in one place, Cueva del Tesoro.  As you meander through the rooms of Cueva del Tesoro, you will see the remains from the Paleolithic and Bronze Age, in addition to samples of Rock Art.  Perhaps, with a bit of luck, you will find the famous treasure that is said to still remain in the cave.

Originally there were 3 caves: El Higuerón, El Suizo, and La Victoria. After renovations, the current Sala de la Virgen was created by joining the Cueva del Suizo (Sala del Lago) and the Cueva del Higuerón.  At the end of the 1970s, the most prehistoric section of that junction was preserved by the tourist sector, but today it can be visited next to the Cueva de la Victoria, independently of the Cueva del Tesoro itself.

The Cuevas del Tesoro has the following services:

  • Reception space
  • Guided tours for groups
  • Information materials in paper format and information channels through the web portal and social networks
  • Parking
  • Toilets

Tips:

  • I would plan about 45 minutes to an hour for your visit.
  • Wear comfortable shoes.
  • An elevator is available, but I recommend walking down and then maybe taking the elevator up.
  • Explore to the ends of each path to discover the gems.  As you go deep into the cave you will notice a change in the temperature and humidity levels.  See if you can notice this.
  • The paths are well-lit and easy to follow.

Hours & Tickets for Cueva del Tesoro

This is a great place to visit for everyone.  There are several stairs, which I recommend taking, as you will see artifacts and read about the caves on the way down.  There is an elevator available for those who need it to the main room of the cave.  The kids will love exploring each and every path and it is extra special when you discover the underground pools.  You may visit their website.
