You can spend years living in an area, and pass by interesting historical sites, and not even know it. This post will cover the Casillas de Peones Camineros (Road Workers’ House) in Almuñécar, but you can find them all over Spain. It’s easy to overlook not only the building, but the role it played in keeping Almuñécar connected to the rest of Spain.
When it comes to learning about Almunecar Spain, this A-Z guide should help you out. We are just having a little fun, while sharing more about the Costa Tropical area (Motril, Almuñécar, La Herradura, Salobreña, and more). This particular post has a main focus of La Herradura and Almuñécar Spain!
There’s a new wave of luxury villas in Costa Tropical Spain and they can be found at SANNTONIO. Perched on the hill above La Herradura, you will find 10 luxury properties with amazing sea and mountain views, a community atmosphere and ideal terraces for entertaining or a romantic night at home.
The streets are lit, the stores are open, the city is buzzing with people, and the ambiance is everywhere! It’s late night shopping Almuñécar style! This event takes place year, but 2019 has some extras in store for us!
Live like a local and get your daily shopping done at the Almuñécar Municipal Market.
CLOSED as of March 2020
A new municipal market will be built in its place.

Alternative shopping options
In the meantime, you may find individual shops close by. There are several booths set up at Plaza Kuwait, by the Aquarium. This is just behind the old municipal market to purchase some of the items which were sold at the municipal market. A bakery is also just behind the former municipal market. There are now also several freestanding fresh fish shops nearby as well.

Mercado Municipal – Almuñécar Municipal Market
The holiday season is upon us and there is so much going on. It is magical to experience Christmas in Almuñécar & La Herradura, but it is tough to find out the when and the where for many things. We’ve decided to share what we know here for you and as we learn more, we will just keep adding to this same post. Many places don’t publicize until a few days prior to the event. We aren’t sure why, but as soon as we find out more, we will continue to add to this post.
