holiday season is upon us and there is so much going on! It is magical to experience (Navidad) Christmas in La Herradura. We also know it can be difficult to find out when and where things are happening, so we compile the information and keep it here for you! If we know the information, it will be in this post and we continue to provide updates through the season.

2022 – 2023 Holiday Season ChristmasLa Herradura
Remember you are in Spain, so it isn’t just all about Christmas and then you are done. Nope, the holiday season continues through the first week of January, to be sure we celebrate the Epiphany and the 3 Kings!
Holiday Program – December 1, 2022 to January 6, 2023
This year there are some great Christmas activities and events in La Herradura. See the full program below, including the 3 kings, contests, nativity scene, Christmas carols and more.
This year the center of activities will be concentrated in the facilities of the Civic Center, both the auditorium and the square, since it will host, among others, the Christmas market.
December 1, Nativity Scene Blessing
20:00 at the Centro Cívico
The inauguration and blessing of the Municipal Nativity Scene in the Civic Center. This will conclude with the Parade of Kings and Queens. Then you can see the exhibition and the awards ceremony of the Christmas Postcard Contest> In which, the participants were all students of the Infant and Primary School “Las Gaviotas”. There will also be a live Choir performance.
December 2, International Prize for Poetry
20:00 at the Centro Cívico Auditorium
The First International Prize for Poetry La Herradura! “Paulino Álvarez” is scheduled in the Diego Martínez auditorium. The act will be performed by flamenco singer Juan Pinilla, Coro “Cosas Nuestras”, Anavi and Pedro Hernández on piano, poem set to music by Reinaldo Jiménez.
December 3, Christmas Lights On
18:30 at the Centro Cívico
The new Manuel Vaquero children’s park will be inaugurated, next to the Andrés Segovia promenade. The inauguration of the Christmas lighting is also planned, with a parade of the Fairy of Light.
Departure from the Civic Center, at 18:30, with a parade by Pura Danza and Flamenco Bahía and its art. The route, leaving the playground, will continue along Paseo Andrés Segovia, up Acera del Pilar, down Prieto Moreno to the Civic Center
December 5-11, Solidarity Flea Market
morning and afternoon at the Municipal Market
The Solidarity Flea Market, supporting Cáritas Parroquial, at the Municipal Market.
December 9, Children’s Storyteller & a Movie
17:00 at the Centro Cívico Auditorium
For the little ones there will be a Children’s Storyteller with Verónica Callejón.
December 15, Children’s Christmas Movie
17:00 at the Centro Cívico Auditorium
Children’s Christmas cinema, with free admission.
December 17-18, Christmas Market
11:00 at the Plaza Centro Cívico Local businesses will be gathered all in one place at the Plaza del Centro Cívico! Here we will celebrate with the Christmas Market.
17:00 The traditional merienda of chocolate & churros will be available. The proceeds will benefit the Cabalgata de Reyes 2023.
18:00 The finishing touch will be Zambombá Flamenca by Niño Caramelo and María Gómez “La Canastera”.
December 17, Coro Cosas Nuestras (Choir)
20:00 at the Centro Cívico
The performance of the Coro Cosas Nuestras and the Pastoral La Herradura that will animate the afternoon.
December 18, Bahía de La Herradura Choir
12:00 at the San José Parish Church
The Bahía de La Herradura Choir performance. Also in the Las Tejas field, there will be a fútbol match.
December 20, Las Carlotas Concert
20:00 at the Centro Cívico Auditorium
The concert of the well-known duo “Las Carlotas” will be one of the outstanding events on the Christmas program. The tickets may be picked up at the deputy Mayor’s Office at the civic center, until full capacity is reached.
December 21 Santa Claus Parade
18:30 at the Centro Cívico
This year Santa Claus will have his own parade, leaving from the Civic Center and traveling along Paseo Andrés Segovia.
20:00 at the Centro Cívico Auditorium Christmas Gala. For its part, the Pastoral will animate the streets.
December 21 – 24, Rosario de la Aurora
06:00 departing San José Parish Church
Enjoy one of the centuries-old traditions with the Rosario de la Aurora, which will tour the old part of the town, from December 21 to 24 and from 6 in the morning. At this time it is scheduled to leave from the door of the church of San José to make the traditional route through Canalejas street, Las Flores, Real, Príncipe and through Canalejas to return to the temple.
December 23, CEIP Las Gaviotas Christmas Carol Contest

December 26, Pastoral de La Herradura
In the last week of December, Monday 26, the Pastoral de La Herradura will once again animate the streets of the town.
December 27-28, Christmas Sweets Workshops
18:30 at the Centro Cívico, Pepe Gámez Room
Christmas Sweets Workshop will be held again on the 27th and 28th
You must register in advance, Registration is open until December 23, at the office of the Mayor’s Office of La Herradura, in the Civic Center.
December 28, Zambombá Flamenca
18:30 at the Plaza Centro Cívico
Zambombá Flamenca, by Niño Carmelo and María “La Canastera”. There will also be typical Christmas carols and flamenco dancing.
December 30, Children’s Christmas Party
16:00 at the Castillo de La Herradura
The Castillo de La Herradura will host the Great Children’s Party! The little ones will be able to have fun with bouncy houses, a mechanical bull, workshops and more. The “Royal Postman” will also perform there, who will arrive at La Herradura to collect all the letters from the local children and deliver them to The Three Kings of the East.
Januayr 3, Municipal Band
20:00 at the Centro Cívico
Bring in the New Year 2023 with the traditional concert of the Municipal Music Band of Almuñécar. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
January 5, Parade of the Three Kings and Queens
17:00 departing from the La Herradura Sports Pavilion
The Cavalcade of their Majesties the Three Kings and Queens of the East will visit the streets of La Herradura. The departure will be from the La Herradura Sports Pavilion, traveling along the Andrés Segovia promenade. Ending at the Centro Cívico Auditorium, where the distribution of gifts will take place.
Cavalcade of SS.MM Los Reyes Magos de Oriente will visit the streets of our town. Departure from the La Herradura Sports Pavilion at 17:00 and arrival at the La Herradura Civic Center. 19:00

Where to Stay in the Area
his area is filled with amazing places to stay from the high-end hotels to the more inexpensive hostels and campgrounds, to holiday rentals, rural villas, and estates.
