The holiday season is upon us and there is so much going on! It is magical to experience (Navidad) Christmas in Almuñécar, La Herradura & the surrounding areas. We also know it can be difficult to find out when and where things are happening, so we compile the information and keep it here for you! If we know the information, it will be in this post and we continue to provide updates through the season.

Food, drinks, activities, procession, and fireworks are what you will get when you celebrate the Fiestas de La Carrera Almuñécar! This usually includes 2-3 days of activities in the neighborhood of La Carrera, near the old town Church. There are no festivities in 2020.
The barrio of Torrecuevas Almuñécar hosts the Fiestas de la Chirimoya to celebrate the harvest of the chirimoya (a custard apple), in honor of the Virgen Madre. The Chirimoya Festival of barrio Torrecuevas, usually includes 4 days of celebration, activities, music, dancing, eating and drinking. The Fiestas de la Chirimoya usually takes place around the 12th of October, which is also Día de la Hispanidad (Hispanic Heritage Day) and Fiestas de Pilar.
Who loves good food? Yes, you do! Every year Almuñécar holds a foodie event called the Feria Gastronomica in Majuelo Park. In 2020, the standard dates, location, and style was altered due to Covid, but it is happening! Be prepared to sample the delicious food from each of the stalls and also partake in a few beverages as well. It isn’t just about food and drinks though. No, you will also be very entertained and this is just one of the annual events which are the sign that summer is on the way.
While the Almuñécar Halloween, and generally in Spain, isn’t a big tradition for trick or treat and costumes, there are a few fun things going on. It tends to be more of the zombies and scary events, but there are some for the little kids too. We have included Halloween activities for Maro, La Herradura, and Almuñécar.

The second week of August means it’s time for the Almuñécar Feria and Fiestas Virgen de la Antigua. Time for celebrations in honor of the town’s patron saint, Virgen de la Antigua. It’s nearly a week full of food, drinks, music, carnival rides, and a procession. It all ends on August 15th with the biggest night in Almuñécar ‘s list of annual festivals and the most spectacular fireworks display around!
