What is the Immaculate Conception?

The Inmaculada Concepción (Immaculate Conception) is a dogma of the Catholic Church, decreed in 1854 that maintains that the Virgen Maria (Virgin Mary) was free from original sin from the first moment of her conception by the merits of her son, Jesus Christ.

This belief should not be confused with the doctrine of the virgin birth of Jesus.  That states that Jesus was conceived without the intervention of a man, while Mary remained a virgin before, during, and after childbirth.

In developing the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception, the Catholic Church contemplates the special position of Mary as the mother of Christ.  And it maintains that God preserved Mary from the moment of her conception of every stain or effect of original sin.  Which was to be transmitted to all men, because they are descendants of Adam and Eve.  They were going to be the mother of Jesus, who is also God.  The doctrine reaffirms with the expression “full of grace” (Gratia Plena) contained in the greeting of the archangel Gabriel, and recorded in the prayer of the Hail Mary, this aspect of being free from sin by the grace of God.

OTÍVAR FESTIVAL PROGRAM 2025

This is the program for the Otivar 2025 festivities. Since the town hall does not publish it, it is about time that people know what has been organised.  Every year it gets worse, no swings (pool, grasshopper…), no concerts for young people, no football tournament, no padel tournament, and to top it all off, the birds of prey performance with the problem of avian flu… (last year they didn’t even show up for that reason).  Enjoy the holidays!
