The parades begin at one location and end with a party at another location. This year the party locations are at the Rio Verde Fairgrounds in Almuñécar (near Rio Verde Park) and at the Plaza del Centro Civico in La Herradura. The holiday season is upon us and there is so much going on! It is magical to experience (Navidad) Christmas in Almuñécar, La Herradura & the surrounding areas. We also know it can be difficult to find out when and where things are happening, so we compile the information and keep it here for you! Food, drinks, activities, procession, and fireworks are what you will get when you celebrate the Fiestas de La Carrera Almuñécar! This usually includes 2-3 days of activities in the neighborhood of La Carrera, near the old town Church.
At the beginning of December each year we can look forward to the Fiestas de Otívar, in honor of the Inmaculada Concepción (Immaculate Conception)! This beautiful pueblo blanco is perched in the hills about 20 minutes outside of Almuñécar. The village comes alive for a few days and nights, with events, music, lights, food and fun.

The barrio of Torrecuevas Almuñécar hosts the Fiestas de la Chirimoya to celebrate the harvest of the chirimoya (a custard apple), in honor of the Virgen Madre. The Chirimoya Festival of barrio Torrecuevas usually includes 4 days of celebration, activities, music, dancing, eating and drinking. The Fiestas de la Chirimoya usually takes place around the 12th of October, which is also Día de la Hispanidad (Hispanic Heritage Day) and Fiestas de Pilar.

At the end of September, we are always in for a treat with the Fiestas de San Miguel, in the barrio del Castillo Almuñécar! Up high on the hill in the old town, near the castle, the streets come alive for a few days and nights.
The second week of August means it’s time for the Almuñécar Feria and Fiestas Virgen de la Antigua (The Fair). Time for celebrations in honor of the town’s patron saint, Virgen de la Antigua. It’s nearly a week full of food, drinks, music, carnival rides, and a procession. It all ends on August 15th with the biggest night in Almuñécar ‘s list of annual festivals and the most spectacular fireworks display around!
