It’s time to celebrate La Herradura & Almuñécar Carnival! The parades begin at one location and end with a party at another location. This year the party locations are at El Majuelo Park in Almuñécar and at the Plaza del Centro Civicoor Plaza de la Independencia in La Herradura. Keep on reading for detailed events and locations.

We also know it can be difficult to find out when and where things are happening, so we compile the information and keep it here for you! This is a listing of the local Festivals of Almuñécar. Many more are celebrated and you will need to check with the tourist office for a listing of activities.
It is great to have a nice meal out with friends or family during the holiday season. Several local restaurants publish Christmas menus with special lunch or dinner options. They also plan special New Year’s menus. Some are for the actual holiday, while others are available for the holiday season. We will continue to update this list of Christmas Menus and New Year’s menus.
We want to share with you the Christmas programs in areas near Almuñecar – La Herradura. Some are in the Granada province or on the Costa Tropical, and others will be in the Malaga or Costa del Sol areas. Enjoy the holiday season and visit them all! At the beginning of December each year we can look forward to the Fiestas de Otívar, in honor of the Inmaculada Concepción (Immaculate Conception)! This beautiful pueblo blanco is perched in the hills about 20 minutes outside of Almuñécar. The village comes alive for a few days and nights, with events, music, lights, food and fun.

We love the holiday season, and there are plenty of Christmas markets to choose from. We have listed those we know in Almuñecar, La Herradura, Motril, Nerja, and more. If they looked good, we’ve added them to our list. Let us know if you have one we should add.
While the Almuñécar Halloween, and generally in Spain, isn’t a big tradition for trick or treat and costumes, there are a few fun things going on. It tends to be more of the zombies and scary events, but there are some for the little kids too. We have included Halloween activities for La Herradura, and Almuñécar, Maro, Motril, Salobreña, Malaga, Velez-Malaga, and Granda.
