Who loves good food? Yes, you do! Every year Almuñécar holds a foodie event called the Feria Gastronomica in Majuelo Park. In 2020, the standard dates, location, and style was altered due to Covid, but it is happening! Be prepared to sample the delicious food from each of the stalls and also partake in a few beverages as well. It isn’t just about food and drinks though. No, you will also be very entertained and this is just one of the annual events which are the sign that summer is on the way.

What is a Feria Gastronomica?
It’s a food festival! Time for you to sample many gastronomic delights. Since 1998 Almuñécar has been hosting this event in Majuelo Park. It is part of the bigger campaign to support gastronomic tourism in Spain. Usually at least 30 local companies participate in the gastronomic feria. From hotels to restaurants, each will have a dedicated booth this event, to promote their establishments and show off their culinary skills. (in 2020, each restaurant will have their own atmosphere, so it won’t be the standard party in the park.)
The objective of the event is to promote the hospitality sector of Almuñécar – La Herradura, relying on the quality of its products, showing off the richness of the gastronomic skills of the municipality. You will also be able to enjoy many performances, dances, workshops, and music with a very festive atmosphere. This is a much an anticipated tourist attraction each year, with people coming from all over the region and coastal Spain.
When is the Feria Gastronomica?
It is usually a 3-day event the first weekend in June at the park, but 2020 is a little different.

Although it can’t be held in the traditional location, El Majuelo Park, it has always celebrated and it will continue. Every year it is well received and many people look forward to this event. The dates and location have changed, but the food will be great!
Due to the pandemic, the organization has decided to carry it out in each of the participating restaurants and thereby energize and promote our subtropical fruits such as cherimoya, mango or avocado, since they will be the protagonists in the two dishes, at least, to present
XXII Feria Gastronomica de Almuñécar
October 9 – 25, 2020
This year a total of 24 establishments have registered in the XXII Almuñécar Gastronomic Fair, which will be held from October 9 to 25 and the theme will be dedicated to subtropical fruits.

The Town Hall of Almuñécar and the Costa Tropical Hotel Association presents the 22nd annual Gastronomic Fair (XXII Feria Gastronomica)!
Special dishes with this year’s theme being all about the local fruits; mango, chirimoya and avocado!
It will be held at the participating restaurants from October 9-25, 2020.
The price of the dish will be set by the participating establishments in this XXII Sexitana Gastronomic Fair, from 6€ – 12€ per dish.
They will each present at least two dishes and must include: mango, chirimoya, and / or avocado.

“Let’s go for tapas”. Gastro Bar de la Flor will offer different tapas from among its variety for diners to taste, we must visit the place to find out what it is about.

Gastronomic Fair: Cherimoya mousse. Tropical Grani-Ron. Mango mousse.
- Mesón del Gusto:
Sol y mar sauteed noodles (sautéed noodles with scampis and mango) and sun and sea tartar (sea bream, avocado and strawberry tartar, served with chirimoya apple jelly and polenta).

Octopus and mango carpaccio with crunchy prawns and sweet and sour sauce

Tropical pizza and tuna with onions in sweet mango sauce.

Tuna, mango and avocado and Mango flower and chirimoya.
- La Despensa de La Abuela El Bribón:
Tuna tartar with avocado and mango and avocado and shrimp croquettes with mango sauce.

Chicken with mango and Celife with avocado.

Ajoblanco de chirimoya and cheeks stewed with mango.
- Antiguo Mesón:
Avocado, mango and shrimp salad (as a tartar) and Iberian pork cheek with mango.

Tuna tartar with avocado and prawn salad.

Mango gazpacho with candied orange and steamed cod on a bed of avocado and crunchy anise and to finish a “Perfect Chirimoya al Grand Marnier”.
This is a great way to promote and showcase one of the most outstanding sectors in tourism, Almuñécar gastronomy. This will allow customers to get to know the different local establishments and what they have to offer in Costa Tropical.
