While the Almuñécar Halloween, and generally in Spain, isn’t a big tradition for trick or treat and costumes, there are a few fun things going on. It tends to be more of the zombies and scary events, but there are some for the little kids too. We have included Halloween activities for Maro, La Herradura, and Almuñécar.
Día de Todos los Santos – All Saints Day
November 1st
All Saint’s Day is part of the three-day Allhallowtide, honouring the saints and praying for the recently departed souls who haven’t yet reached heaven.
Hallowe’en (a contraction of All Hallows’ Eve) on 31 October
All Saints’ Day on 1 November
All Souls’ Day on 2 November, which commemorates the faithful departed – the souls of all good who have passed.

Almuñécar Halloween & All Saints 2019
The City of Almuñécar organizes a few “scary” days on Halloween
October 31
17:00 – Kids
The children’s free film ‘Hotel Transylvania 3’ will be shown in the cinema of the Casa de Cultura. After there will be the party for the little ones, a party of the Mexican Saints, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, from 18:00.
22:30 – Teens & Adults
The free movie shown will be ‘The Curse of the Weeping Woman’ at the Casa de Cultura.
November 2
Kids – The AMPA of San Miguel will prepare a snack for kids in Plaza del Ayuntamiento in the afternoon and there will also be a setting for the day of the dead.
Teens & Adults –
18:00 at El Majuelo Park the ‘Zombie Apocalypse’.
23:00 A gymkhana (contents of trials) organized by the Department of Youth, starting at El Majuelo Park, with activities and trials through the Almuñécar city center, while having to avoid being caught by the zombies and being transformed into one of them.
La Herradura Halloween & All Saints 2019
Oct 31 – Nov 2 at 20:00
La Herradura presents “the Passage of Terror”. The haunted house will take place in the Castle of La Herradura for 3 nights October 31 – November 2 from 20:00.
Friday – November 1 at 19:00
Children’s part at the La Herradura Castle grounds.
Maroween – Maro Halloween & All Saints 2019

Maro celebrates the Chestnut and Sweet Potato Festival every October 31 under its new name, Maroween. Hundreds of people gather in the town square to taste the traditional chestnuts and roasted sweet potatoes.
To liven up the party of Maroween, a passage of terror (Haunted house) and festival with a costume contest and lots of fun is also celebrated. Maro’s square and streets are adorned with pumpkins, candles and a lot of terror.
It is a party in which local and foreign customs merge.
Maro is located between La Herradura and Nerja.
