Fiestas de La Candelaria is celebrated in the small village of Lobres, part of the municipality of Salobreña. This Romería is celebrated the weekend closest to February 2. You can enjoy a Pilgrimage in honor of la Candelaria, as well as activities, entertainment, food, and fun. This is a popular fiesta with mass and processions in honor of the Virgen de la Candelaria.

What is La Candelaria?
La Candelaria is a popular fiesta celebrated by Catholics, which celebrates the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, the Purification of the Virgin after childbirth and the Virgin of the Candelaria.
Who is the Virgin of the Candelaria?
The Virgin of the Candelaria or Our Lady of Candelaria is a Marian invocation of the Catholic religion. This invocation originated in the 15th century in Tenerife, Spain. It’s derived from a candle that refers to the holy light that leads to the good path, redemption, and faith in God.
When is Día de la Candelaria?
It takes place on February 2 and this is Candelaria Day. Many times the fiesta is held on the nearest weekend to Día de la Candelaria or February 2nd. In some places, it is celebrated over several days.
Where is the Fiesta de la Candelaria?
The fiesta takes place in the small fishing village of Lobres, located in the municipality of Salobreña. It is just a few minutes east of Salobreña town center and slightly inland. You may access from the A7 highway at exit 322, the first exit after going through the tunnel de Itrabo if you are heading east from Almuñécar. Once you exit the highway, you should see signs leading you to the village of Lobres. We’d recommend parking as you enter the village and just walk into the center.

Saturday – February 01
11:00 Departure of the XIII Pilgrimage in Honor of the Virgen De La Candelaria from the bus stop towards “La Presa”, accompanied by the Rociero Choir El Buen Pastor de Granada. The return time will be at 18:00.
22:00 The big party in the enclosed tent near the Casa de la Cultura. Entertainment with Dj Txuanki.
Sunday – February 02
07:00 Traditional Rosario De La Aurora. Departing from the Parish Church of San Antonio.
08:00 Free chocolate and churros for all those attending Rosario De La Aurora. In the tent installed in the enclosure of La Casa De La Cultura.
10:00 Diana in charge of Salobreña Music Band directed by Mr. Jorge García Quirantes.
11:00 Classic Motorcycle Route. Lobres has been included in the classic motorcycle route organized by Vespa Club Motril and others from Almería, Málaga, and Granada. They will tour Lobres at 11:00.
12:00 Holy Mass in Honor of Our Lady of La Candelaria. Parish Church of San Antonio.
12:30 Procession in Honor of Virgen de La Candelaria and San José accompanied by the Salobrena Music Band.

11:00: Salida de la XIII Romería en Honor a la Virgen De La Candelaria desde la parada del autobús con dirección a “La Presa” acompañada del Coro Rociero El Buen Pastor de Granada. Su regreso será a las 18:00 horas.
A partir de las 22:00 horas: Gran fiesta en la Carpa instalada en el recinto de La Casa De La Cultura con la animación de Dj Txuanki.
DOMINGO 02 DE FEBRERO
07:00: Tradicional Rosario De La Aurora. Salida desde La Iglesia Parroquial de San Antonio
08:00: Chocolate y churros gratuitos para todos los asistentes al Rosario De La Aurora. En la carpa instalada en el recinto de La Casa De La Cultura.
10:00: Diana a cargo de Banda De Música De Salobreña dirigida por D. Jorge García Quirantes.
11:00: Ruta de Motos clásicas. Lobres ha sido incluido en la ruta de motos clasicas organiuzada por Vespa Club Motril y otros de Almería, Málaga y Granada. Recorrerán Lobres a las 11:00 horas.
12:00: Santa Misa en Honor a Ntra. Sra. Virgen de La Candelaria. Iglesia Parroquial De San Antonio.
12:30: Procesión en Honor a Ntra. Sra. Virgen de La Candelaria y San José acompañada por La Banda De Música De salobreña dirigida por D. Jorge García Quirantes.
