The hermitage of San José and Santa Rita is located in a privileged place at the top of Los Berengueles. It was built by architect Francisco Prieto Moreno in the 1970s. You can find it perched in the pines near the Punta de La Mona lighthouse, tucked between the bays of Almuñécar to the east, and La Herradura to the west. It is a nice area for reflection, meditation, and organized events.

A great and inexpensive way to get to Almuñécar & La Herradura is the Malaga airport bus! Don’t worry you can also travel from Almuñécar to the Malaga Airport and also from Malaga to Almuñécar. We will provide you detailed instructions in both directions, to help you with your journey. You have options for a direct bus or you may take a bus to Malaga central bus station and change there for your destination.
here are several main Almuñécar Supermarkets or Grocery Stores in the area, including La Herradura, Motril and Vélez-Málaga . There are also several specialty markets or small stores where you will be able to find imported or international products. A few of these are open for limited hours on Sundays. While the Almuñécar Halloween, and generally in Spain, isn’t a big tradition for trick or treat and costumes, there are a few fun things going on. It tends to be more of the zombies and scary events, but there are some for the little kids too. We have included Halloween activities for La Herradura, and Almuñécar, Maro, Motril, Salobreña, Malaga, Velez-Malaga, and Granda.
