We are often asked about the location or availability of places of worship in the area. There are several places of worship in the area and not all of them are obvious as you walk past. We will share with you the names of each place of worship and they have also been pinned on a map. We don’t have the details of mass for all of them but feel free to search online based on their name.

What is an Ermita or Hermitage? (Place of worship)
An Ermita (ehr-mee-tah), is typically a quiet place of worship, prayer or meditation. It is also known as a place of pilgrimage, a shrine, or a small chapel.
Ermita de San Sebastián
The neighborhood of San Sebastián is one of the oldest in Almuñécar and has some ancient treasures to discover. Not only will you see one of the several sections of the Roman aqueduct, but there is another little treasure. Tucked away in the narrow streets of the neighborhood is the small hermitage of San Sebastián.
Ermita de San José y Santa Rita Punta de la Mona
The hermitage of San José and Santa Rita is located in a privileged place at the top of Los Berengueles. It was built by architect Francisco Prieto Moreno in the 1970s. You can find it perched in the pines near the Punta de La Mona lighthouse, tucked between the bays of Almuñécar to the east, and the Herradura to the west. It is a nice area for reflection, meditation, and organized events.
