The second week of August means it’s time for the Almuñécar Feria and Fiestas Virgen de la Antigua. Time for celebrations in honor of the town’s patron saint, Virgen de la Antigua. It’s nearly a week full of food, drinks, music, carnival rides, and a procession. It all ends on August 15th with the biggest night in Almuñécar ‘s list of annual festivals and the most spectacular fireworks display around!

Expect to see covered wagons, floats, horses, traditional costumes and a large turnout for the Almuñécar La Romería de San Isidro. Though Dia de San Isidro is May 15th, the Pilgrimage of San Isidro will be Sunday, May 19th, 2019. The event is organized by the Hermandad Virgen Madre y San Isidro de Torrecuevas and the support of the Ayuntamiento of Almuñécar.
Usually each year around May 13th, El Cerval celebrates the traditional Pilgrimage of the Virgin Fatima (Romeria del Cerval). This is organized by the neighborhood of El Cerval. It is also in collaboration with Tenencia Alcaldía de La Herradura and the Ayuntamiento de Almuñécar. The final party will be held in the neighborhood of El Cerval Alto.

With elaborate displays of flowers, crosses, lights, decorations, fiestas, and pop-up bars, in the alleys of old town in Almuñécar & La Herradura. Be prepared for a few days and nights with displays, food, drink and a great atmosphere.
Tradition, processions, remembrance, commemoration, brotherhoods, sisterhoods, candles, floats, a variety of costumes and more, are all part of what you will experience during Almuñécar Semana Santa (Holy Week)! This usually spans over 8 days, with multiple processions through town during the day or night.
Costumes, masquerade, parades, singing, dancing, music, activities, food & drink. This is what you will experience when you celebrate La Herradura & Almuñécar Carnival! Activities are usually centered near the Ayuntamiento in Almuñécar and the Plaza de la Independencia in La Herradura. The parades usually begin at the stadium in Almuñécar and at the Civic Center in La Herradura. Keep on reading for detailed events and locations.

The holiday season is upon us and there is so much going on! It is magical to experience Christmas in Almuñécar & La Herradura, but it is tough to find out the when and the where for many things. We’ve decided to share what we know here for you and as we learn more, we will just keep adding to this same post. Many places don’t publicize until a few days prior to the event. We aren’t sure why, but as soon as we find out more, we will continue to add to this post.
